I love to start my day with this tea and its also great with some honey to boost your immune system if your feeling under the weather. I like my tea with a really strong lemon and ginger taste but depending on your taste you can let it sit for a long time to infuse with the ginger or you can dilute slightly with some extra hot water. To make I simply place a few slices of freshly cut and peeled ginger root in a glass with the juice of half a lemon. Pour over boiling water and let it infuse for a good 5-6 minutes. I generally add a teaspoon of honey as well just to sweeten it up a little bit. Ginger has been shown to reduce nausea and provide relief from vomiting, as well as alleviating an upset stomach and reducing pain caused by osteoarthritis.
Honey has both antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. These properties are also greatly enhanced if you use Manuka honey. This may aid in the healing process of wounds and may also be beneficial in rehydration of the skin.
Lemon is a great source of vitamin C, which is a very important antioxidant for fighting free radical production, boosting the immune system and repair and maintenance of healthy teeth and bones.
Together they form a fragrant and tasty tea that is full of nourishing benefits.
