After trying an acai bowl a couple of weeks ago I thought I'd give a smoothie a try next. I really enjoy the unique flavour of acai and the smoothie packs that are available are a great way to incorporate acai into your diet. To make I combined one 100g acai smoothie pack, 3/4 cup mixed frozen berries, 3 heaped tbs natural yoghurt, 3/4 cup almond milk and half a tsp honey. I then topped with some fresh blueberries, goji berries and almonds. After I took this photo I also added some homemade muesli. Acai contains the powerful antioxidants anthocyanin and flavanoids, that aid in neutralising free radicals. Free radicals are by-products of various bodily functions and can be harmful to the body. Eating acai can be great for the health of your hair, skin and nails, as they contain beneficial omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids as well as one pack containing more protein than an egg.
