This smoothie was so delicious - the combination of chocolate and blueberries might sound a bit strange but it worked really well. To make I blended together 1 cup frozen blueberries, 2 large tbs natural yoghurt, 1 large scoop chocolate protein powder and 3/4 almond milk. I then topped it off with some honey, goji berries, oats and almonds. The perfect post-workout snack or light breakfast! Just make sure you choose a high quality protein powder - there are many that are made from fresh fruit and vegetables and natural sources of protein but still delicious. Having some extra protein supplements, especially after doing physical exercise, will aid in building lean muscle mass and help in repairing muscles. It is particularly important to be consuming adequate amounts of protein as one ages as the risks of joint problems and osteoporosis increase. Not only does protein aid in muscle protection and development but also in building and repairing of bones, cartilage, skin and blood.
