I love the combination of apple and cinnamon - sweet and spicy and so delicious. I have been wanting to try this twist on regular oatmeal for quite a while. To make I combined 1/3 cup rolled oats, 1 tsp cinnamon, about 3/4 cup milk or water and 1 small grated apple in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simply stir until the porridge reaches your desired consistency. Then pour into an overproof bowl, top with some apple slices and more cinnamon and bake in a 180 degree Celsius oven for about 10 minutes. Delicious ! Apples are a great source of vitamin C, which acts as a powerful antioxidant to rid the body of harmful free radicals. Apples are also rich in B-complex vitamins that are key in maintaining a healthy nervous system and maintaining red blood cells. Also, apples are high in dietary fibre, phytonutrients and minerals such as phosphorus, calcium and potassium.
