Another smoothie to kickstart the day. To make this one I blended together 3/4 cup frozen blueberries, 3 heaped tbs greek yoghurt, 1/2 cup lactose-free milk, 1 scoop vegan protein powder and 1 scoop Essential Greens supplement powder. Then I topped with pecans, honey and gentle fibre mix (a combination of oat bran, linseed, psyllium seeds and psyllium husks). Blueberries are an incredibly rich source of vitamin C, which is important in maintaining a healthy immune system as well as aiding in collagen formation and healthy gums. Blueberries also contain antioxidants called anthocyanins that help rid the body of harmful free radicals and may even help to prevent the formation of tumour cells. They are also low in fat but high in fibre so they keep you feeling fuller for longer.
