This was a bit of an experiment but it ended up working really well. It felt decadent because of the rich chocolate flavour, which went well with the taste of the berries. To make I combined 1/3 cup oats with approximately 3/4 cup water (or you can use milk) on the stove. As soon as the mixture started to heat up I added 1/2 cup frozen raspberries, a heaped tbs cacao and 1 tsp honey (this could be substituted with 100% maple syrup, rice syrup or sweetener such as stevia). I then topped with strawberries, dried cranberries and slivered almonds. After I took the photo I also added a bit of milk. Cacao is rich in antioxidants, which may help prevent cellular damage, protect the heart, as well as many other therapeutic effects. It also contains oleic acid, which may aid in lowering cholesterol. Cacao is also a rich source of magnesium as well as providing iron, copper, calcium, zinc and potassium.
