Green smoothies are a refreshing and tasty way to increase your intake of nutritious green leafy vegetables, as well as other vegetables and/or fruits. They are quick to whip up and you can change up the ingredients as you desire. For this particular green smoothie I blended together spinach, cucumber, lemon, orange and coconut water. Blending to make a smoothie differs from juicing in that it contains all the fibre present from the fruits and vegetables. Because of this they are of larger volume and are more filling. Although the fibre is present the blending process breaks it apart, making the fruit/vegetables more easily digestible but at the same time avoiding blood sugar spikes by creating a slow and even release of nutrients into the bloodstream.
