I made this smoothie after doing a little gym session and it was a really refreshing and filling post-workout snack. I added some strawberry vegan protein powder, which aids in muscle recovery and growth. To make it I blended together 1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries, 1 scoop strawberry vegan protein powder, 1 tbs flaxseed oil (to provide important omega 3 fats), 3 large tbs natural yoghurt and almond milk. I then topped the smoothie with chia seeds, goji berries, pecans and a small amount of honey. Working out causes damage and tears in the skeletal muscle, however, consuming protein after a workout helps with regeneration of the muscles by providing amino acids and nutrients. As well as this it provides energy by way of replenishing glycogen stores (glycogen levels are depleted in a workout).
