I make smoothies quite a few times a week, usually for breakfast with some tea and fruit and I find that the addition of a small amount of protein powder (for this I used a vanilla protein powder) makes it more filling. Having plenty of protein in the morning is beneficial as it provides the amino acids needed for the brain to function and become alert. Having protein early in the morning increases the brains levels of tyrosine, increasing its ability to produce the neurotransmitters dopamine and noradrenalin, giving energy and making you feel awake and alert. To make this smoothie I blended together lots of frozen mixed berries, 3 large tbs natural yoghurt, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder and almond milk. I then topped with oats, chia seeds, goji berries, sunflower seeds, walnut and honey. Enjoy!
